Hunger, true hunger, is something most of us never have to deal with. In Marion and Polk Counties alone there are over 25,000 children affected by hunger on a daily basis. Marion•Polk Food Share (MPFS) is the local food bank serving Salem’s two counties and in the month of November Venti’s is partnering with MPFS to help them spread the word of ways Salemites can connect, volunteer, donate and/or contribute to this great cause.
One way you can donate to MPFS is through their food donation drop locations throughout the city. Pending the arrival of the donation bins you will be able to donate food items to both our locations. You can read more details about the MPFS food drive here.

Another great opportunity to connect with MPFS is to join their Sustainer Circle. By joining the Sustainer Circle you can commit to a monthly commitment (as little as $5/month!) to support the fight against hunger. By joining the Sustainer Circle you have the chance to make an impact in our community that can go beyond just the coffee or sweet potato fries you sacrificed for that month. It can make a lasting impact on a young child’s well being, something that can’t be measured against the flavors that hit our palette on a daily basis. To become a member of the Sustainer Circle check out their website.
So, Live Salem! and connect with MPFS this month!
Food for thought:
1 in 5 local families will need emergency food assistance from Marion-Polk Food Share this year. Hunger is closer than you think, but so is the solution.
7500 local families will need emergency food assistance from Marion-Polk Food Share this month.
11500 local children will need emergency food assistance from Marion-Polk Food Share this month. With one phone call, ending hunger for a local child can become a desperately needed reality.
Just $10 is enough to provide 50 pounds of nutritious food to a hungry local family – enough for 3-5 days.
