Venti’s Goes To Hollywood, sort of . . .

Revised 30 Sept 2009 to clarify: the beer labels are that of a fictitious brewery.

Venti’s Cafe & Brewery’s beer bottles will appear in a movie produced in the Reno, Nevada, area by Tradecraft films. Nevada’s ‘Sort of Hollywood’; it’s on the same planet.

A colleague of mine, Stephen Stough, from Lockheed Missiles & Space, Inc., days retired to north of Reno and after a year of settling-in he ‘volunteered to help some [Reno] high school students make a student film this Spring’. One thing lead to another and he
- formed Tradecraft Films, Inc. in order to make short drama films
- is producing [professional] movies
- is editing the Motion Imaging Journal for the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers

Stough and Tradecraft Films are now in pre-production of a short film, a psychodrama, titled ‘Sotto Voce’. Tag Line: When your worst enemy is close, very close.

Noting my current involvement with beer, he inquired:

‘I need to get film rights to some brand of beer, in return for screen promotion.
Any obscure local beer companies that I could contact in your area?
I would also need some empty beer bottles.’

I considered the question and began to make a lists of small, interesting, innovative breweries, breweries with edgy graphic and/or particularly clever beer name. I awoke the next morning with the idea of using Venti’ Cafe & Brewery beer. I posed the project to Leslie. Resulting in:

Venti's Cafe & Brewery NW Red Ale

Venti's Cafe & Brewery - Red Rooster NW Red Ale capped

Venti's Cafe & Brewery Red Rooster NW Red Ale empties

Venti's Cafe & Brewery - Red Rooster NW Red Ale empties

In part, the label reads,

_ _ venti’s _ _
RED ROOSTER
NW RED ALE
60 IBUs / 6.0% ABV

BREWED AND BOTTLED BY VENTI’S CAFE & BREWERY, INC. SALEM, OR

The scenes with the beer bottles will be shot October 10th and 11th in an 1890s house in Gold Hill, Nevada. We are promised a clip or two of the resulting footage.

btw: The beer labels are that of a fictitious brewery. To my knowledge, Venti’s have no plan to brew their own.
